a-little-counter-esperanto asked:
Talking Head vs David Bowie? 1980s vs 1990s? Knowing someone’s deepest secret vs telling someone your deepest secret?
1. David Bowie
2. Tough one! Obviously most of my musical tastes are straight out of the eighties, but I have a real and unironic love for nineties fashion (probably because, y’know, I wore it). I might go for the nineties because I have a misplaced nostalgia for velvet chokers, britpop, platform trainers on Spice Girls, hair mascara, buying tapes in Woolworths and a Labour Party that still seemed viable at the time…
3. I would rather know someone’s deepest secret and leave my own well out of it (I speak from experience!)
Thaaaank you!

“In the early 60s I was absolutely mad about The Who… I [would] have given anything to have been the young Pete Townshend with his Rickenbacker guitar doing the windmill thing with his arm… But during our first gigs Russell, dressed in a sailor suit, was wheeled on stage in a little ocean liner made of papier-maché, waving hello to the crowd of four or even five people. That’s when we realised maybe we weren’t going to be The Who.”
